Anatomy of Design #005: Tandem – Provocation by Design (Derry~Londonderry)
In the first of a new series of Anatomy of Design talks, Andrew Todd from Tandem will speak on ‘Provocation by Design – Creating interpretive visitor experiences which captivate, thrill and inspire’
Engaging interpretative and exhibition design is not merely about communicating information effectively, it’s about reaching out to touch the heart of each, unique visitor; it relates what is being displayed or described to something within the individual and connects on a personal level.
Tandem is an interpretive design company that works with museums, heritage bodies and cultural organisations to create revealing and provocative experiences. Projects range from interpretive displays at heritage sites to major installations that employ innovative techniques and technologies. A multidisciplinary activity, Tandem draws on the collective expertise of historians and archaeologists, researchers and planners, writers and designers to brings the past into the present and the remote, near.
Tandem have developed heritage and cultural interpretive experiences – including temporary and permanent exhibitions – for castles and ships, libraries and historic buildings, driving routes and walking trails.
Tandem’s Lead Consultant/Creative Director, Andrew Todd, will be talking about some of the underlying principles that help shape their work and how they create experiences that relate to the individual with compelling, creative solutions and strategies.
This talk will be of interest to those working in the heritage and cultural field as well as those in the creative industries. Please note, we will run this event twice, once in Belfast on 26 February and once in Derry-Londonderry (Guild Hall) on 11 March.
