Winning team announced!

In January 2011 the NI Design Alliance launched a Design Competition for 2nd year Visual Communications students at the University of Ulster, with 6 local design companies participating as mentors. The aim of the competition was to help students develop their professional design skills and for local designers to shape what they are learning.

Over the course of 3 weeks, the students worked on a design brief with their mentors and then presented their work to a judging panel of professional designers from Whitenoise, Front, Darragh Neely Design Works and Whitespace2.

We had a special prize-giving event at the University of Ulster on Thursday 3rd February.  The evening was a great success as we announced our winners and heard from Neil Ramsden from McCadden, about his role as a mentor in the competition.

And the winner is…

Big congratulations to the winning team: Declan Mount, Lucy Liddell, Patrick Willis and Ruth Baxter.

Thank-you to everyone who came along on the night and supported the event! The feedback on the competition has been excellent, from both the students and the design companies involved.

We would like to say a special thanks to W&G Baird and Donald Murray Paper for sponsoring the competition and awarding the prize, and to Liam McComish for coordinating the University’s involvement.

And finally a huge thanks must go to our judging panel and the following companies for participating as mentors:
AVBrowne
Frank
Hamill Bosket Dempsey
